
Hit-and-Run Tragedy Claims Life of Belize City Man

A Belize City man lost his life over the weekend after being severely injured during a hit-and-run. On Friday night, around 9 o’clock, 52-year-old Rodcliffe Codd was riding a bicycle on the Northern Highway after leaving a wake. Police say Codd was heading to his home on Zacaranda Street when he was hit by a vehicle near mile 2. Codd was rushed to the hospital and later passed away while receiving treatment on Sunday. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, says that police have since been able to obtain a description of the vehicle that hit Codd and are hoping for the public’s assistance.
Hilberto Romero, Senior Superintendent of Police: “He was riding a bicycle heading toward Belama area when he was hit from behind by a vehicle. He was taken to the KHMH for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. We are presently looking for a vehicle in regards to this fatal RTA as the vehicle fled from the scene.”
Reporter: Will a description of that vehicle be provided ?
Hilberto Romero, Senior Superintendent of Police: “Yes we have a description. We are following up to try and establish which vehicle this is.”
Reporter: Have surveillance cameras ?
Hilberto Romero, Senior Superintendent of Police: “Yes that is part of the investigation, looking at surveillance cameras in the area.”
