Three Honduran women who were involved in a physical altercation with a food vendor outside the Lion King Club & Bar in December 2024 pleaded guilty to charges of harm today in Belize City Magistrate’s Court. Their legal troubles, however, may be far from over as they were immediately handed over to the Immigration Department for a review of their immigration status in Belize. The women Kimberly Joseth Umanzor Izaquirre, Evelyn Elizabeth Carranza, and Karol Melissa Joarez Castro, are Honduran nationals with no fixed addresses. Initially pleading not guilty, the trio changed their plea to guilty during their court appearance before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2. Each woman was fined $300, plus a $5 cost of court fee, which they were ordered to pay immediately. Failure to pay would result in three months of imprisonment. The case stems from an incident on December 8, 2024, at approximately 3:10 a.m., when the three women assaulted Kenia Yasmin Moz, 31, a naturalized Belizean food vendor. Moz reported to police that she was standing on King Street with her aunt when the women approached her. One of the women, whom she identified as Kimberly, slapped her on the left side of her face. The other two then joined in the attack, forcing Moz to defend herself. The struggle left Moz with injuries, including swelling on both sides of her face and harm to her left elbow. After their guilty pleas were accepted, the court summoned the Belize Immigration Department, and the women were handed over for verification of their legal status in the country. This could result in additional charges or actions being brought against them, pending the outcome of the investigation.
