Day one of the 2021/2022 budget debate continues at this hour in Belmopan. It got underway just after nine o’clock this morning, but before the members got into the thick of things, Speaker of the House Valerie Woods highlighted the importance of mature exchanges and respectful behavior. According to Woods the occurrences in the meeting of the budget presentation on April 9, she was urged to ensure that there is not a repeat of such disruptions.
Valerie Woods, Speaker of the House of Representatives: “Following the disorderly events that immediately preceded the adjournment of this house on the last occasion I have since met with the Prime Minister, the leader of Opposition and the member for Cayo South. I did so sincerely in an attempt to ensure that moving forward. There is not a repeat of what transpired at the last meeting. The Standing Orders of this house, require that all members.
