A house fire this morning in Hopkins Village, Stann Creek displaced one man and destroyed all his belongings. Just after 8 o’clock, a blaze broke out at a wooden elevated bungalow structure in the village’s Aranda Estate area. The flames quickly spread and engulfed the structure. Fire personnel were called out, but by the time the flames were extinguished, the home and its contents were completely destroyed. Love News understands that the home was owned by one Charleston Castillo and was being rented by an employee of a resort in the area. We spoke to the village’s Chairman Macario Augustine about the unfortunate ordeal.
Macario Augustine, Chairman, Hopkins Village: “Actually the house fire this morning as I said it’s always a devastating situation for your house be burning now in Hopkins, it’s like a regular thing now which needs to be taken into consideration but I got my information that I got was that it is a locally owned house which is rented by…..well I mean I’ll call it someone renting it from Rio Del Mar they’re working at Rio Del Mar but they rent the place from the owner no ?”
Reporter: You haven’t heard what may have caused the fire or anything like that ?
Macario Augustine, Chairman, Hopkins Village: “To be honest I have not gotten any info about how the fire started so I won’t be able to give any information in regards to that. Honestly no-one was hurt in the fire so that was something that we should be thankful for as well.”
