A mother of two is homeless after a fire destroyed her home in Hattieville on Friday. According to Erica Belisle she received a call that her house was on fire at around 6:30 in the morning from her neighbour. She added that she did not have anything inside the house that could have started the fire and believes that it was an act of arson. She says that this is the second time that her house has been burnt down.
Erica Belisle, Owner of House: “It was like early in the morning or like after four or five because when I reached there around I think four o’clock in the evening it was still burning because I was trying to deal with the police at the station during the day. The material was still burning, you could still see fire, but no one returned the fire to the police I went to report it the morning. I haven’t given a statement as yet because the authorities are turning me around however I’m trying to deal with the fire station on my own trying to have them go and see what was the cause of the fire because I haven’t gotten any response from the authorities although they asked me to leave my particulars which I did but they still haven’t contacted me yet from Friday. This is the second time because three years ago my house was burned down as well; suspected arson no one was charged now two years again suspected arson again. The first time my house burned down was two years ago in February. Same thing I got a call the morning, no one called the police, no one called the fire station I went to report it and it’s just like a replay over again and I lost everything the first time and managed to get back stuff and I lost everything again. Yes I got response from the authorities first time but however the authorities from Hattieville have been changed and like I told the authorities when I went there the last time my house was burnt down as I went to the police they responded right away. They went to the scene, contacted the fire department – I even called the police and asked them to come call the fire department for me because I need the fire department to come examine the place for me so I can get the papers from the fire department to try look around for help and assistance but the police haven’t gotten back to me so I’m trying to do it on my own now.”
The house along with her belongings were completely destroyed by fire. If you wish to assist Belisle you can contact her at 6303283.
