The House of Shotokan Karate Academy competed in yet another competition and was victorious. The competing champions traveled to Bacalar, in Quintana Roo to compete in kickboxing and taekwondo tournaments with surrounding martial arts schools in Mexico. The Karate Master, Shihan Kelly shared with us the proud moment of watching seven-year-old Amphree Swasey dominate his opponent. This was his first full-contact children’s kickboxing competition and Kelly explained that the opponents’ coach had to yell “No mas” to subsequently stop the competition in favor the child.
The two champions who brought home first-place medals shared what their emotions were before going into the challenge. Seven-year-old Amphree Swasey competed in the kickboxing competition and said he entered it with confidence. Seven-year-old Olivia Rota, who competed in taekwondo and a karate formation competition said she was nothing but excited to compete.
The academy is preparing to compete once again in Tabasco, Mexico, and said they are confident that they will return with yet another win under their belt.
