Hulse Cleans Hotbed Mess at Lands Department

In October 2013 the Prime Minister Dean Barrow referred to the Lands Department as a hot bed of corruption.  It has been an area of concern for many years as there have been under table deals and cases of fraud; a status quo that Minister Godwin Hulse has been trying to change via a new system.

Hulse went on to state that there were several questionable cases in the process when he took over and he has been able to stop them and carry out an in-depth investigation of persons applying for land.  The Minister also added that in some cases he does site visits.

As for transparency, Hulse says the information of land transactions will be made public in the near future.

According to Hulse he has processed applications that have proven legitimate and were set aside for about five years.
