Human Remains Found on La Isla Bonita, Police Investigating

Police are probing into the discovery of human remains on La Isla Bonita, San Pedro. On Saturday, investigators were called out to an area on North Ambergris Caye where skeletal remains were discovered. According to police, a construction team unearthed the bones while digging a hole, and quickly called the authorities. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero says police are now working to identify the remains and ascertain a cause of death.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding, Eastern Division: “Some work was being done and the workers came across human remains. The remains were removed from the area from the forensics and they were taken to the laboratory for analysis.”

Reporter: Any indication on when police would be able to obtain the sampling from those remains ? 

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding, Eastern Division: “The remains were taken to the forensic laboratory and an examination will be conducted but at this time we do not have any information who the remains are for.”

Reporter: Any clothing ? 

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding, Eastern Division: “No clothing was found no.”

Romero added that there are no current missing person’s reports on San Pedro.
