IDB Approves $10 Million for Water Expansion Projects with BWSL

IDB approves over $10 million for water expansion projects with BWSL.  Over 400 households in 44 communities across the country are set to benefit from two new projects to expand access to drinking water being funded by the Inter-American Development Bank.  The IDB has approved over $10.6 million for the projects, which will be carried out by Belize Water Services Limited (BWSL). The IDB said that the funds will be disbursed in s four-year span with a repayment period of 25 years.  The loan carries a five and a half year grace period with the interest rate based on the Secured Overnight Financing Rate.  The IDB will also be giving an additional $1.6 million in grant funding. Under the project, BWSL will be installing new disinfection equipment and is set to install smart micro-meters in San Pedro, Caye Caulker and Placencia.
