Immigration Officer Faces Court: 104 Pages of Evidence Presented in Theft Case

Immigration Officer, Monique Escalante was presented with full disclosure yesterday in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.  The 31-year-old of Corozal Town was given 104 pages of evidence along with three cds in the presence of her attorney, Leslie Hamilton.  The next step in her court matter will be the preliminary inquiry set for November 8.  Escalante was charged with theft back in mid-March when a Jamaican national told Police that the officer had demanded a payment for her personal benefit in the sum of three thousand US dollars at the Philip Goldson International Airport.  After leaving the airport, Janhoi Shaun-Dhee Richards went to the Ladyville Police Station where he filed a formal complaint leading to the arrest of Escalante.
