One of the most interesting revelations that came out of yesterday’s convention in Corozal Bay was an interview given by Vega’s sister-in-law, Ingrid Vega. Ingrid was the wife of the late David Diddo Vega who passed away in January 2021, less than two months after being elected as the Area Representative for Corozal Bay. Vega’s death propelled Elvia into political popularity resulting in her endorsement to replace David. Up that point, she had the support of his wife, Ingrid; but something went wrong, and yesterday Ingrid was seen campaigning for Garcia-Ramirez.
Ingrid Vega, Wife of David “Dido” Vega: “I was the first one to actually endorse Ms. Vega-Samos on the last convention. I was giving her all my support. I know my husband’s legacy. I know his plans. I knew his plans. We spoke about them every day, so I knew what he wanted. And I believed that after three years, something could have been done and carrying his legacy and I don’t see that happening. So I decided to support the other candidate because I personally had a talk with her. And I told her, it’s not easy, but when it comes to politics and having my husband’s legacy wanting to be out there, I’m hoping that, and this is what I want. Usually people ask you what you want, right? And so I told her, this is what I want. Carry his legacy because after three years I haven’t seen anything. I have been out of the political game since Dave passed. I was kicked out of the executive, of Elvia’s executive. So since then I have not been in the political game. So, yeah, so I, but again I will say I told Thea if I see you not doing it either I’m going to give somebody else a chance. So it’s just a matter of me wanting to see something done for the people.”
