Insurance Legend and Sports Enthusiast Harrison Pilgrim Passes Away

Insurance legend and sports enthusiast Harrison Pilgrim has died.  Love News confirmed that Pilgrim died this morning while recovering from a road traffic accident in Guatemala on Thursday. He had undergone surgery and was recovery when he began suffering complications which eventually resulted in his death.  Pilgrim had 40-year career in insurance, retiring in 2012 as the Regional Manager for Sagicor Capital Life’s operation in Belize and moving on to start the family-owned firm, Diversified Life Solutions. He was also known in education sectors, serving as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Belize.  Pilgrim was also known for his love of sports and was headed to meet with Belize’s athletics team in Guatemala at the time of his accident.   In the wake of his passing the University of Belize issued a statement honoring his time on the board and his contributions to Belize as a nation.   The statement said ” Today we mourn the passing of a great son of the Belizean soil, who has left behind a powerful legacy of humility and dedication in our struggles for a more just and democratic culture.”  ​Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association also issued a statement, saying “Harrison served as the General Secretary of the Belize Athletics Association and dedicated his life to promoting athletics and supporting Belizean athletes on the global stage. His unwavering commitment and passion for sports were truly remarkable.”  He was 76 years old.
