Interdicted Police Officer Charged with Damage to Property and Escape

A police officer who has been placed on interdiction has been charged criminally with damage to property and escaping from lawful custody. Police Constable Adrian Hall appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today before Chief Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola. The 24-year-old pleaded not guilty to both charges. The prosecution did not object to bail but asked that bail come with strict conditions. The Chief Magistrate agreed and offered Hall separate bails for his charges. For the escape, he was offered bail in the sum of fifteen hundred dollars plus one surety of the same. Under those conditions, he must refrain from having any contact with the virtual complainant, Ursula Chi. For the damage to property charge, he was granted bail in the sum of one thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount. He must also refrain from having any contact with Chi’s family members. His next court date was set for September 14. Allegations against him are that on Tuesday, July 11, Hall caused damage to Chi’s home windows valued at two hundred fifty dollars. He is also accused of fleeing police custody after he was arrested for causing the damage.
