Internal Feud Between Gang Members Sends Two Men to Hospital in Belize City

An internal feud between members of a Belize City gang sent two men to the hospital on Saturday night. Around 9:30, 33-year-old Ronlee Petillo and 21-year-old Alyon Domingo were socializing at a home on Amara Avenue when a lone gunman approached from behind the residence and opened fire. Petillo was shot in the neck and shoulder, while Domingo sustained injuries to his abdomen. The men, who are affiliates of the GSG gang, have since been treated and released from the hospital. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, says the shooting was the result of an internal feud between gang members from the area.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Information gathered so far is that they were in that area in a yard when someone came to that area and fired shots toward their direction causing their injuries. We are conducting an investigation into this matter. The information we have gathered so far is that it’s an internal feud in that area and we have detained several persons for interviews. We have several things that we have put into place in regards to this incident to prevent any sort of retaliation or escalation in the violence. So whatever needs to be placed there has been done and we continue with that.”
