Investigation into Pratt’s death not ruled a murder

33-year-old Victor Pratt’s death is being investigated by police after a postmortem examination revealed that he had been shot. Initially, police believed that he had lost control of his motorcycle on the Philip Goldson Highway near Sandhill Village, Belize District. Despite the gunshot wound, police still have not classified the case as a murder, and Superintendent Alejandro Cowo explained why.

Supt. Alejandro Cowo, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch, Belize City: “We have not established if it was a negligent shooting, if it was an intentional shooting, that is yet for us to discover whilst we are investigating the matter that is why we classify it as that at this moment. Where he actually collided that is the area that the scene was processed. We suspect that he was shot at another location where he managed to drive until that area where he was found where he actually just dropped off from the cycle. It does not necessarily mean he was shot where he was found.”

There are no suspects as yet.
