Yesterday we told you of the house fire on Dougal Street that consumed a 2-storey structure belonging to one Steve Miles. The fire broke out just after eleven o’clock but challenges faced by the firefighters prevented them from extinguishing the fire prior to total destruction. In an interview with Miles, he indicated that a vector control truck may have been the cause of the fire as it was in the area spraying for mosquitoes or thermal fogging. Love News has reached out to the National Fire Service and was told that the investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile, one official at the Ministry of Health, told our newsroom that he has heard Miles speculation, and indicated that thermal fogging was introduced in the late 90’s, and there has been zero incidence of fires as a consequence of the exercise. The health official further noted that while Miles suggests that perhaps the fire started outside or from under the house whereby excess chemical could have caused a flame on the tip of the chamber/nozzle, such an event would have been immediately noticeable. Up to news time, however, there is no conclusion drawn as a final report is needed from the fire service, and a definite source or point of ignition has not been determined.
