Investigation Reveals Malfunction Caused Fire in Shipyard Community

On Monday there was a fire in the Shipyard Community, Orange Walk District. The Belize National Fire Service launched an investigation into the incident and learned that it stemmed from malfunctioning equipment being used on a tanker truck carrying crude oil. The Station Supervisor at the National Fire Service, Kenneth Mortis shared some of the findings of the investigation.

Mortis said that various authorities will have to look at facilities that store crude oil going forward to manage the risks. He said that the fire service does have guidelines for the storage of oil.
