Is the Ministry of Home Affairs looking for a new CEO ?

Is the Ministry of Home Affairs looking for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO)? Next month, the three-year contracts for Chief Executive Officers within various ministries are coming to an end. One of those CEOs is Kevin Arthurs, whose ministry is unsure if he will return. The attorney of law assumed the position in 2020 after the Briceno Administration took office and moved away from the private practice of law. Yesterday, his political boss, Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa weighed in on whether Arthurs will be renewing his contract.

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs: “Not to my knowledge no but as you might know all CEO contracts are coming up for renewal I think in November of this year. It marks the three year anniversary but I haven’t heard that as yet.”

Reporter: Do you know if he’s planning to renew his contract ?

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs: “I know that the CEO had intimated to me upon taking on this very important role that it would be a huge pay deduction for him because as you know he’s an attorny at law and so he assured me that he could only give me three years in the first instance so it’s quite possible that he might not be renewing. I think there always has to be a succession plan in any ministry, in any department and especially ours at Home Affairs so of course there has to be that consideration.”
