The annual Expo Belize Market Place takes place this weekend at the ITVET compound in Belize City. The preparation for the Expo has been developing since January. The Expo is expected to draw a huge crowd and today when we visited the grounds many businesses were setting up their stalls. Love news spoke to Viannie Reyes, the Marketing and Public Relations Officer of the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry who told us that approximately two hundred businesses have registered for the event.
Viannie Reyes, Marketing & Public Relations Officer: “We have approximately I would say 190 exhibitors that are coming out to the EXPO this year so I can say that this is actually one of the biggest Expo that we have had so far. Besides coming out to shop and to buy products or anything like that it is also a festivity that a lot of Belizean’s look forward to when it comes to the September Celebrations. It’s not really a September celebrations festivity but because it lands in our September calendar we make it a part of that so besides coming out and spending money on certain things. People actually come out here to find out information about a lot of different business and also support just our locals and non locals and exhibitors that are out here and also for the entertainment and just to have good time with their family. We have a lot of exhibitors who come out here just to market their business, their service, their products and there is a couple people who don’t have anything on sale or doesn’t come out to sell anything so they come out here basically just for the marketing.”
Once again the two-day event begins tomorrow at the ITVET from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The entrance fee is five dollars for adults and three dollars for children under eleven years old.
