Thirty-five-year-old Belize City resident Jeffery Pott has been committed to stand trial in the Belize High Court for the murder of 50-year-old Dion Bodden. Pott’s preliminary inquiry was held in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, where the prosecution presented the evidence intended to be used against him. That evidence included more than 10 witness statements and several documents. After reviewing the evidence, the Magistrate determined that Pott has a case to answer and committed him to stand trial on June 10. At that court appearance, Pott will officially plead either guilty or not guilty. Pott told the court he would not be calling any alibi witnesses at his trial. Dion Bodden was gunned down in Pitts Alley, Belize City, on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Police arrested Pott after reviewing surveillance footage of the area. We note that Pott is no stranger to the courts. He is currently serving over 20 years in prison after being convicted of three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. He also has a conviction for public drinking.
