Jet Blue Launches Non-Stop Flights from New York to Belize: Boost for Tourism Sector Expected

People looking to travel between Belize and New York, USA now have the option of flying non-stop. Today, Jet Blue Airlines made its inaugural flight to Belize, after months of ironing out logistics and building momentum. The international carrier says it listened to its customers and will now be flying to the Jewel three times a week. It is a significant step in bolstering the country’s tourism sector and is expected to increase yearly tourism arrivals. Prime Minister John Briceno says the Minister of Tourism and his team worked tirelessly for the weeks to attract the airline to our shores.            

US Ambassador to Belize, Michele Kwan, was present at the inaugural ceremony, where she attested to a strong relationship between Belize and the United States. She also spoke about the fascinating things Belize has to offer and its picturesque landscape.    

Jefferey Godelle, Jet Blue’s Vice President of Government Affairs, highlighted the importance of the new route and its impact on the company’s marketing efforts.       

The company is one of three international airlines that added Belize to its list of destinations this year.
