JICA donates disaster relief supplies to NEMO

The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) is now better able to support persons affected by Hurricane Lisa thanks to a donation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA. Today, the organization handed over supplies, including generators, blankets, sheets, and tarps. The people and Government of Japan provided the donation valued at about two hundred thousand Belize dollars. Resident representative of JICA, Juichiro Sasaki, says the country felt it was important to provide disaster relief aid to Belize as a close diplomatic partner.

NEMO’s National Coordinator Retired Lieutenant Colonel Shelton Defour says that the donation comes at a timely juncture when several persons remain in need of supplies. He says that the aid will benefit the residents who are most in need.
