And while Barrow remains safe for now, John Saldivar is no longer the leader of the Party’s Western Regional Caucus. Today, Saldivar resigned via a letter to Chairman Micheal Peyrefitte. He stated QUOTE “I can no longer operate in this environment of disrespect for each other and disregard for our Party’s Constitution at the highest levels of leadership. I shall confine myself to delivering the Belmopan Constituency at the next General Elections.” Our newsroom also understands that the UDP’s Western Zone Coordinator, Delroy Cutkelvin, was in the process of requesting Saldivar’s removal. The move reportedly was centered on several members being disgruntled with Saldivar’s term, which ended on July 17. Four standard bearers from the party are now calling for Omar Figueroa to take up the post. Similarly, we reached out to Barrow for comment, but he declined.
