Jose Rodriguez pleaded guilty to causing death by careless conduct after his initial charge of manslaughter by negligence was downgraded.  The charge comes from a fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of 11-year-old Tezzrah Thompson.  On October 5, 2015, Thompson was knocked down and killed whilst crossing the George Price Highway after exiting a bus. At the time, Thompson was a student of Saint Matthew’s Government School and was returning to her home in Mahogany Heights when the incident occurred.  The case has been adjourned to November 25, when Justice Colin Williams is expected to hear mitigation pleas. Rodriguez is being represented by Attorney Nazira Myles while Crown Counsel Riis Cattouse is prosecuting the case.
