Joseph Budna in Confrontation with Security at Corozal Community Hospital

Joseph Budna is in the news again after he got entangled in a confrontation with security and medical personnel at the Corozal Community Hospital.  The incident occurred yesterday when Budna went to the hospital and began taking video footage of the facility.  The security reportedly approached him and told him that he was not allowed to take the footage.  After some minutes of back and forth, the Police were called in and a medical personnel came outside to talk to the Police.  Things escalated when Budna insisted on recording the doctor’s conversation with the Police but the doctor did not give his consent and made a swing at Budna’s camera.  We were able to get a snippet of the incident.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness has since issued a release on the incident, saying that, ‘the self-made journalist, Joseph Ryan Budna in highly inappropriate behavior at the Corozal Community Hospital. The release noted that, quote, “Budna’s actions, which included placing a camera in the face of the Acting Chief of Staff and disrupting vital medical services, are deeply concerning and unacceptable. While we acknowledge the valuable role that journalism plays in our society, it is imperative that this role is carried out with integrity, respect, and adherence to professional standards. The behavior exhibited by Mr. Budna does not align with these principles. Instead of pursuing factual and respectful journalism, his actions disrupted the essential services provided by our dedicated healthcare professionals and compromised the well-being of patients.”  End of quote.  The ministry goes on to call on the media to foster an environment of mutual respect and collaboration.
