A missing person’s flyer is in circulation in Quintana Roo with the name of a Belizean woman. 27-year-old Joyce Dawson who was reportedly working at a call centre in Cancun, Mexico was reportedly last heard from by family members on October 26, 2019. Shortly after the flyer went out, a post went up on her Facebook Page where Dawson noted that her phone is lost but that she is okay. According to her sister, Sherlene Dawson, she has been located and pronounced safe.
Sherlene Dawson, Sister of Joyce Dawson: “We got concerned because the last time we had spoken with her was the 26th of October. She said that she was going to come home to give us a visit but that was the last message and then we got concerned after two weeks passed and we didn’t hear anything from her, she was off social media and she wasn’t’ getting our message. Her Mexican number was off so we got a bit concerned and I went to do a report over at the consulate in Chetumal who then referred me to a section of the police department that deals with immigrants like distressed immigrants or something like that, missing persons and stuff like that. We contacted one person that she said she went with but that person didn’t go, they didn’t go with her so we got more concerned and we tried to stay positive. We got a message last night stating that she would contact us this morning which was kind of strange of her but nevertheless early this morning she called us and said she was okay. I spoke to her and she sounded good and she sent me pictures that she was okay and would be coming home next week after thanksgiving.”
