JPAC evaluates 2014/2015 Auditor General Report

The Joint Public Accounts Committee met today where they evaluated the 2014/2015 Auditor General Report.  Today’s session saw the participation of Auditor General, Dorothy Bradley who responded to questions from the committee members ranging from the availability of financial statements and banking reconciliations from the Government of Belize.  In speaking with the Chair of the JPAC, Tracy Panton spoke with Love News on today’s proceedings who indicated that this is the second hearing on the report which was never presented to the Ministry of Finance until 2019.

Panton went on to say that she believes that rather than reviewing an audit from ten years ago, scrutiny should be placed on the present.  As it relates to the lack of proper accountability from the Barrow administration, Panton concedes that they could and should have done better.

Today’s JPAC meeting is the ninth meeting since the joint committee was created.
