Jumoke Castro, the son of Minister Edmond Castro, has reportedly been placed on administrative leave from the Belize Tax Service Department. In a letter sent to him yesterday, it was noted that he had breached the code of conduct policy of the public service regulations which brought the public service in disrepute.  The letter made no mention of him being placed on administrative leave, but it did give him until January 21, 2020 to provide an explanation of his Facebook post on December 19, 2020.  The social media post caused quite a stir when Castro threatened sexual assault and rape on the wife of Church Pastor, Louis Wade Jr.  Castro was lashed in the court of public opinion and took an additional beating during a Special Sitting of the House of Representatives.  Prime Minister Dean Barrow dubbed the post as distasteful and stated that he does not support that type of behavior.  Some members of the public clamored for his dismissal from public service while others demanded that criminal charges be brought against him.  Pastor Wade and his wife filed complaints to the police with the intention to bring criminal charges.  While the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams noted that there is no law that makes it illegal to issue a rape threat.
