37-year-old Corporal Kent Martinez was in court today before Magistrate, Stephanie Gillett for the murder of 36-year-old Allyson Major. The court was adjourned until March 19 in the light of new evidence. Today in court, Corporal Martinez in the presence of his attorney, Hurl Hamilton was given disclosure which included some photographs of the crime scene as well as a DVD with surveillance footage which police intend to use against him in the Supreme Court trial for murder. Head of Prosecution, Alifah Elrington will be overseeing the Preliminary Inquiry in Corporal Martinez’s case. Allegations are that on July 16 Major was shot during a high-speed police chase that ended near the Swing Bridge in downtown Belize City. Major was shot once to the back of his head and succumbed to his injuries the following day.
