Kerisa Guild receives Lifesaving Surgery

Seven-year-old Belizean Kerisa Guild, was born with scoliosis, a condition in which the spine is bent abnormally. Kerisa’s condition was life-threatening and she was not able to receive treatment here in Belize.  The Belize Children’s Project became aware of Kerisa’s case and managed to arrange a surgery for her in the U.S.A. The girl traveled 2,500 miles to stay with a Mount Vernon family for her severe spinal surgery. Kerisa has undergone two surgeries and the good news is that she is recovering, standing straighter and taller. Kerisa is one out of many children that receive lifesaving surgeries through the Belize Children’s Project. Five hundred children have benefitted from the project since its creation a few years ago.
