KHMH CEO says there is no dispute with KHMHA Union

Love News also spoke to the CEO of the KHMHA, Chandra Nisbet Cansino who made it clear that no dispute exists between the Authority and the Union.

Chandra Nisbet-Cancino, C.E.O., Karl Heusner Memorial: “I really want to state for the record that there is no trade dispute between KHMH AU and the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority. So I was a little surprised when I got that information that in five minutes time we are going to stage a protest and so my initial concern was for the patients. I wanted to make sure that if you all are going to leave your places of work, you know, we want to make sure that the patients are properly cared for. So that was number one my concern and then number two, in regards to the administration, and I think it goes back to what I said earlier, that the procurement of medications and supplies is primarily a Ministry of Health function. Yes we have to procure stuff that we need for the hospital like you know, for example, beds. We’re trying to get a CT-scan and all of that stuff. Not everything we get is from the ministry because we are an authority. But when it comes to medications and supplies we depend on the ministry for that. When we don’t have or when we cannot get it, we purchase. But remember the purchase of these medications, a lot of it is imported. So even if we can purchase it, we may not be able to get it in the quantities that we need for distribution for hospitals, well for our hospital at least. So, when we can we purchase but sometimes we can’t find it to purchase. But as far as I know, at no time we have been using any kind of arts and crafts stitch for the patients.”
