Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority is responding to growing public concern following reports of three infant deaths in recent weeks, emphasizing its commitment to patient safety and compassionate care. In a press release issued today, the hospital acknowledged the media coverage surrounding the cases and extended condolences to the affected families, describing the loss of a child as “immeasurable and painful.” The Authority confirmed that it has established contact with each family and continues to provide support during what it called an extremely difficult period. The hospital stressed that the care and safety of patients, particularly vulnerable infants, remain a top priority. According to the statement, the illnesses affecting the babies involved multiple high-risk factors, including prematurity, congenital birth defects, and malnourishment, all of which can create delicate and complex medical cases. KHMH further assured the public that established clinical protocols and standards of care are being upheld and noted that its neonatal and pediatric services continue in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Wellness to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. While reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the Authority explained that it must also adhere to mandatory reporting requirements and patient confidentiality, adding that all concerns will be addressed through the appropriate clinical and administrative processes. The statement from KHMH comes amid heightened scrutiny following the deaths of one-month-old Mathew Martinez, newborn Joy Pinelo, and a premature infant whose mother has publicly called for improved communication and stronger neonatal resources. Police have recorded statements in at least one case as investigations continue.
