KHMH Unveils Lactation Lounge, Promoting Breastfeeding in Maternity Ward

The country’s first baby friendly hospital now has a lactation lounge. The renovated room within the maternity ward at the KHMH was made possible by the Rotary Club of Belize Sunrise and Courts Belize. President of the Rotary Club, Misty Michael spoke about the collaboration. 

In 2008, the KHMH was certified by UNICEF as a “baby-friendly” hospital, with several initiatives to improve maternal and child health. Chief Executive Officer, Chandra Nisbet Cansino says that the new lactation lounge will provide a safe space for mothers and staff.
