Kirk Gordon Slain in Belize City

Police are also investigating Friday night shooting that ended a Belize City man’s life. Reporter Vejea Alvarez tells us more.

The continued gun violence in Belize City carried on into Friday night costing yet another man his life. 47 year old Kirk Francis Gordon was shot and killed near Peter Seco Street. Police explained today what else they have learned about this heinous crime.

ASP Hilberto Romero, Belize Police Department:  “Around 6:40PM police responded to a shooting incident at Peter Seco Street in Belize City. Upon their arrival they found Kirk Gordon with several gunshot injuries. He was transported to the KHMH where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Investigations revealed that he was on the street sitting by a skiff when a male persons came towards him and fired several shots at his direction causing his fatal injuries.” 

According to Romero the incident may be the result of an ongoing gang rivalry and police are seeking one suspect in relation to the murder.

ASP Hilberto Romero, Belize Police Department: “We are seeking on person in regard to this investigation. We are looking at several factors, it might be some rivalry from person within that area where.”

Reporter:  So it might be an internal.

ASP Hilberto Romero, Belize Police Department:  “A rivalry he has with those persons from that area he was because he’s from Kraal Road.”

In 2003 Gordon was accused of killing Arthur Ellis on Kraal Road following an argument between the two men. He was charged with murder and sentenced to life in prison in 2006. Four years later after appealing the decision at the Privy Council the convicted murderer was given a lesser charge of manslaughter and was sentenced to fifteen years behind bars. He received parol in 2019 and in July of this year he would have been an entirely free man, however the K raal Road resident met his demise at the end of another man’s gun and left a teenaged daughter behind.
