With general elections being six and a half weeks away things in the political arena are heating up. There was commotion of sorts in Ladyville, Belize District, as the village chairman, Bernard Bennett, was attacked and assaulted by workers in the Belize Rural Central division. According to Bennett, his council has been upgrading streets for the past two and a half weeks, and today, they arrived on Yellowtail Street, where Beverly Williams’ office is located. Bennett explained what transpired next.
Bennett did not sustain major injuries, but stated that after the incident he had pain in the arm. He has not spoken with Williams, because he stated that she saw the incident but did not do anything to stop it. We reached out to her today, but she told our reporter that she does not have time to waste and hung up the phone.
