A Ladyville mechanic was fined in court today after admitting to drug trafficking. 25-year-old Ryan Daniel Mucollock appeared unrepresented in the Belize Magistrate’s Court today, charged with possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply to another. Mucollock immediately pleaded not guilty and was fined $800 plus $5 cost of court. He has until June 30, 2025 to pay. Failure to do so will result in four months imprisonment. The Magistrate cited the seriousness of drug offenses and Mucollock’s lack of prior drug convictions as factors in the sentencing. However, she also noted aggravating factors, including Mucollock’s attempt to conceal the drugs, his flight from police, the quantity of the drugs, and his lack of cooperation with police. On Saturday March 1, police saw Mucollock and another man speed away on a motorcycle after seeing officers. A chase ensued, ending at the Old Airport Road roundabout. According to police, a search of the motorcycle driver yielded nothing, but a search of Mucollock’s school bag revealed 210 grams of marijuana hidden inside a shirt.
