A nurse from Ladyville returned home Monday night to find her house burglarized, with thousands of dollars’ worth of household items missing. Around 10:45 p.m., police from the Crimes Investigation Branch responded to a report of a burglary on the Old Well Road, Ladyville. Upon arrival, they met with 47-year-old Eva Salinas, a Belizean nurse, who reported that she had left her home securely locked on Tuesday, April 15, before traveling to San Pedro for work. Salinas stated that upon her return at approximately 10:50 p.m. on April 21, she discovered that the lock on her back door had been damaged and removed. She entered the house and immediately noticed that it had been broken into. The intruders are believed to have gained entry through the southern side back door. The stolen items include a white twin-tub washing machine valued at 450 dollars; a black Mabe brand stove valued at 325 dollars; two 50-pound butane tanks valued at $150 each; and three buckets and seven gallons of paint valued at 1,900 dollars. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at just under three thousand dollars. Scenes of Crime technician Jiro Sosa processed the scene and was able to lift one partial fingerprint. Officers canvassed the surrounding area and interviewed several individuals, but no useful information was obtained at the time. Police continue to investigate the incident, and anyone with information is urged to come forward to assist in identifying those responsible.
