Ladyville Resident Faces Murder Charges in Connection to Christmas Eve Shooting

Ladyville resident, 28-year-old, Shaquile Brian Perera, is facing murder charges once again after he was fingered as the man behind the Christmas Eve murder of 30-year-old, Darnell Puerto.  Puerto, a car dealer of Tibruce Street was socializing with Jevon Ramclam when Jason ‘Soup’ Williams came to the house to visit Ramclam’s nephew.  The two reportedly had an exchange of words where Williams threatened to return to the area.  Shortly after, at around nine thirty, a drive-by occurred, involving a black vehicle. Both Ramclam and Puerto sustained gunshot injuries, with Puerto’s injuries proving fatal.  According to Senior Superintendent Hilberto Romero, Police have arrested Perera for murder, attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and grievous harm.

Hilberto Romero, Senior Superintendent of Police: “Two persons had been shot and taken to the KHMH for treatment. The police visited the KHMH where the two persons were identified as Darnel Puerto and Jevaun Ramclam. Information is that both were at Maskall Street where they had a confrontation with a male person who told them something and said that he would return. Thereafter a car pulled up, a male person came out and fired several shots toward their direction. Darnel Puero succumbed to his injuries. An investigation was carried out and since then we have arrested and charged Shaquille Perrera for the crime of murder.”

Perera was charged for the murder of 17-year-old, Camron Hernandez, back in November 2021.  While Puerto’s injuries were fatal, Ramclam had managed to survive the attack.  According to his mother, Dawn Ramclam, she was unaware of the threats made to her son and Puerto.

Dawn Ramclam, Mother of Shooting Victim: “So I ran towards the door where my son was at and then he was like “My foot. My foot.” and then he started asking, because the young man Darnel was standing along with him and then he started asking for Darnel. He said to go check on Darnel. He called him Black Boy because that is the name that everybody would call him around here. So he said “Go check on Black Boy.” Darnel was between the walkway lying down. So they picked him and took him to the hospital but after the whole incident happened then my son when I asked him what happened he said you know the guy told him that they were coming back so I was like you should have told me that from earlier because he didn’t tell me that because there is no way I was going to let them stand up there knowing that they had already told them that they were coming back, I would have made sure that they moved. Darnel was like a son to me you know ? He was here every day. We cooked, he’d eat. He comes sometimes from work he sleeps right in my son’s chair until he is ready to go home. They stay in the yard they don’t bother anybody all they do is take their little drink and play their music and that was their enjoyment.”

Puerto appears in the court system after he was charged for being in possession of counterfeit US currency in 2020.  As the murder case for Puerto progresses, Love News understands that Police are now looking for Jason Williams.
