Ladyville Resident Remanded for Alleged Firearm Assault of Businesswoman

A Ladyville resident was remanded to the Belize Central Prison for allegedly assaulting a businesswoman with the use of a firearm. 28-year-old, Akeem Ferguson, appeared unrepresented before a magistrate in court today where he was read two criminal offenses, one count of common assault and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm. Ferguson pleaded not guilty to both charges but due to the nature of the offense, where a gun is alleged to have been used, he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until March 18. Allegations are that Ferguson allegedly punched a businesswoman in her face following a misunderstanding on January 26 where he also threatened to kill her saying “I di come back with my thing and come kill all a uno”. No charge for using threatening words was read to Ferguson. On Monday, Ferguson allegedly pointed a firearm at the businesswoman during an exchange of words.
