Ladyville Senior Citizen Charged for Traffic Mishap

A senior citizen from Ladyville was fined after he was involved in a traffic mishap. 74-year-old Austin Gabourel appeared before a magistrate in court today where he was read three traffic offenses: one count of drove motor vehicle without due care and attention, failed to give way when changing direction and failed to produce a driver’s license. Gabourel pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, while the magistrate withdrew the charge for “failing to give way when changing direction” since it is listed under the wrong section of the law. For the charge of failing to produce a driver’s license, Gabourel claims that his driver’s license is in Dangriga. For this, an equivocal plea was entered by the magistrate. Bail was offered in the sum of $400 plus one surety of the same amount and the case was adjourned for April 4. The charges stem from an incident on the highway that happened on February 4 where it is alleged that Gabourel failed to give way when he drove across the highway to the Gas station and collided into the rear portion of another vehicle causing damages.
