Yesterday we brought you the plight of 55-year-old Dona Bol, a resident of Toledo District who stated that for years she has been trying to acquire the title to a parcel of land that she inherited from her parents. She has been back and forth to the Lands Department in Belmopan and believes that the department sold her land to someone else. Today, we spoke with Ivan Leiva, the Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Natural Resources, who explained that in her case, there are two separate parcels of land in question. One is a fifty-acre plot belonging to her dad, and the other is a 26-acre plot. He gave details of both situations.
Leiva explained that he has an open-door policy for Bol, and he understands the difficulty in travelling from Toledo to Belmopan. He hopes that a reasonable solution can be found soon.
