The Farmers Association in Valley of Peace, Cayo District, is concerned after they have not gotten feedback from the Lands Department in over six months regarding their farmlands. Many of the farms were acquired by the Valley of Peace Farms Limited and they and the farmers have been at odds. According to the farmers, they have been planting on these plots of land for years, whereas the company is stating that they have the titles to prove ownership. After an intervention, the company agreed to relocate some of the farmers. However, months have passed, and the farmers are growing worried. Some of them are not even able to access their farms. Today, Love News spoke with Ivan Leiva, the Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Natural Resources, who stated that they will be revisiting the issue.
Leiva stated that they will try to meet with the parties involved by early November.
