Today, the Leader of the Opposition, Moses “Shyne” Barrow, and UDP Chairman, Michael Peyrefitte, met with representatives from the Standard & Poor’s Rating Services. The organization is a rating agency that ranks the creditworthiness of borrowers by rating their debt or other securities using a standardized ratings scale. The UDP Leader and Chairman met with analysts, Fernanda Nieto and Omar De La Torre Ponce de Leon, at the Central Bank to discuss Belize’s economic and monetary developments, including macroeconomic policy framework, and any impacts from global financial conditions, and other factors likely to influence the medium-term economic outlook. Barrow says he provided the group with a comprehensive overview of the economy, public debt, employment, public healthcare, education, citizen security, housing, and environmental protection policies.
