Leader of the Opposition says the Briceno Administration is extremely corrupt

Leader of the Opposition says the corruption of the current administration is blatant, and that the United Democratic Party could never be accused of such levels.  Tracy Panton’s remarks came this afternoon during a press conference of some of the UDP parliamentarians.  The press conference focused heavily on the matter involving Joseph Budna and has declared that Belize’s sovereignty is in danger.

Tracy Panton, Leader of the Opposition: “We see the corruption in government. It’s blatant. And certainly the United Democratic Party cannot be accused of that level of corruption that we see now on full display. I’m reminded of a phrase my father used to say that power corrupts but ultimate power corrupts absolutely. We are calling as the party that is rebuilding, our social partners, our friends in the union, the NGOs, the business community we’re calling on the churches, we’re calling on all Belizeans to join your voice with ours and say enough is enough is enough. When our sovereignty, our very sovereignty is under siege by a government who has a fundamental duty and responsibility to this country we need to join forces.”

We will have more from today’s press conference in tomorrow’s newscast.
