Leaked Records Show Nearly $6 Million Paid to MP Farms in Under Two Years

As the political fallout continues to grow, late last week, a fresh batch of leaked Smart Stream records is shedding new light on the scale of government payments made to MP Farms, a company owned by members of the Mira family.  According to a review of more than fifty newly leaked screenshots, MP Farms received approximately five-point-seven-four million dollars in government payments over a period of just twenty-one and a half months, from September 2024 to June 2026.  The records reviewed so far show approximately six hundred and twenty-seven invoices totaling nearly six million dollars. That translates to an average payment of roughly nine thousand two hundred dollars and a monthly average of about two hundred and sixty thousand dollars.  The figures become even more noteworthy when examined against established payment thresholds. Of the approximately six hundred and twenty-seven payments identified, around six hundred and fifteen were below ten thousand dollars, representing roughly ninety-eight percent of all transactions reviewed.  The largest volume of payments occurred during September of 2025, when Oscar Mira was serving as Minister of Defence. During that month alone, payments to MP Farms reportedly totaled approximately six hundred and eighty thousand dollars.  Investigators reviewing the records also noted a striking contrast between payments made by different government entities. Of the more than six hundred invoices paid by the Ministry of Defence, only two were found to exceed ten thousand dollars, both totaling one hundred and fifty-two thousand, eight hundred and thirty-four dollars and twenty-eight cents. By comparison, nine out of ten payments made by the Office of the Prime Minister for grocery-related purchases were reportedly above the ten-thousand-dollar threshold.  MP Farms, formerly known as Mount Pleasant Farms, supplies fruits, vegetables, groceries and other food products to government agencies, including the Belize Defence Force and the Belize Coast Guard. The company is owned by Stanley Mira, while Brian Mira is listed as a contact. Both are brothers of Oscar Mira.  The latest figures significantly increase earlier estimates and suggest that the total value of payments connected to Mira family businesses may be substantially larger than initially believed. As additional screenshots continue to be analyzed, further details are expected to emerge regarding the scope and pattern of the transactions.
