Legal Trouble Looms for Former Minister ‘Boots’ Martinez Over Comments on Governor General

Former minister Anthony “Boots” Martinez may be facing legal troubles over some comments he made in the media recently about Governor General Dame Froyla Tzalam. Yesterday, the Office of the Governor General responded to Martinez’s statements regarding the recall petition for Port Loyola Area Representative Gilroy Usher Sr. The correspondence from the Governor General’s office reminds that the Governor General is the representative of the Crown and it is unlawful for anyone to bring the office into contempt, disrepute or disaffection. The statement went on to say quote “Recent statements made by Anthony “Boots” Martinez to the media scandalizing and bringing Her Excellency into disrepute are unwarranted, unprecedented, and unlawful. The Cabinet has requested the Attorney General to provide advice on this matter,” end of quote.  Love News understands that Boots has since responded, saying he will not apologize.  We will keep you posted.
