Leon Lamb was today denied bail and remanded to Belize Central Prison following his arraignment in the Belize City Magistrates Court on multiple serious charges. The former Belize Defence Force soldier was charged with one count of burglary with intent to rape an 11-year-old minor student, two counts of wounding (one for the child and one for her grandmother), and one count of harm to the child’s grandfather. Lamb, who was unrepresented, pleaded not guilty to all four counts. Making pleas on his own behalf, he told the magistrate, quote, “These matters before me at court are just allegations against me. I have been in prison from June 2024 to May 2025. I just got out 2 months ago. Since then, I have been trying to work to get my family out there. These are just allegations against me, yet to be proven…” end quote. The prosecution objected to bail, citing several reasons, including the facts of the case and Lamb’s alleged violations of previous bail conditions. Notably, the prosecutor submitted that denying bail was also for Lamb’s own safety, given public sentiment and social media comments made towards him regarding his alleged actions. Lamb was remanded until his next court appearance on October 31. Lamb is accused of breaking into a Belize City home on Saturday, June 28. The family says that an intruder was found in the child’s room in the upper flat of the home around four in the morning with his pants down. He had reportedly already removed the child’s clothing. The intruder then punched both the grandmother and grandfather, knocking them unconscious. During the commotion, the child managed to escape the room and run downstairs to an uncle for assistance. We note that this is not Lamb’s first charge for a crime of a sexual nature. In 2023 Lamb was charged with rape and granted bail in the sum of $10,000.
