Leonora Flowers is the woman leading the charge of the Christian Workers Union (CWU) after being elected this past weekend. Flowers recently ended a 28-year-career at the Social Security Board and has been a union member for several years. During a press conference today, Flowers told the media that throughout her career she has seen her share of injustices in the workplace and has seen loopholes and gaps that need to be plugged. She has conceded that this new role will be a challenge, but she is confident that she has the confidence and support of the people. One of the things that she will work on is the outstanding Collective Bargaining Agreements.
One of the pressing issues facing the CWU is the matter with Port of Belize Limited and the stevedores. President Flowers noted that she is not hesitant or scared to take on the fight of its thousands of union members.
Leonora Flowers was elected on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
