License Plate Shortage Revisited: Ministry of Transport CEO’s Prior Commitments

Ten months ago we did an interview with the then CEO for the Ministry of Transport, Adele Catzim-Sanchez, relating to license stickers and the shortage.  In June last year, Catzim-Sanchez indicated that they were already in the process of clearing the backlog of license plates and license stickers.  For context, we bring back that interview.

Adely Catsim Sanchez, CEO, Ministry of Transport: “With regard to the backlog of the license plates and stickers we are starting to clear the backlog. So, as you can see, we’ve processed some invoices that have allowed us to be able to deliver this service to the public. It’s really important because people have been asking for the license plates and stickers and we’re now able to deliver. So we’re moving in, going from district to district to make sure that we can distribute what is needed for the department to function effectively. I think the public will appreciate the work that we’re doing. I think they are already appreciating being able to access their stickers and their license plates and we will continue to ensure that we have a flow of these so that people don’t have to wait too long or wait at all to make sure that they have these things because it’s a part of road safety to be able to identify vehicles and to ensure that people have what by law is required of them such as their stickers.”

Tonight, we can tell you that the shortage has not been resolved.  As a matter of fact, we were able to hear from a few vehicle owners who said that they have been having to carry around a receipt since they cannot get a sticker.  Love News reached out to Acting Chief Transport Officer, Peter Williams to see what the update is at the Department of Transport.

We will keep following this story.
