Leader of the Opposition, Moses Shyne Barrow was given a five hundred dollar ticket this afternoon for going against the mask-wearing regulation. To our knowledge, Barrow is the first elected official to have been ticketed under the Covid-19 regulations. The matter stems from Barrow’s entrance at the House of Culture on Friday, September 10 when he walked into the official Tenth Day Ceremony without a mask. Love News spoke to Barrow earlier today where he stated that he makes no qualms about the incident and that it was an honest mistake. He explained that it wasn’t until he arrived at his seat that he realized that he was not wearing a mask. He says he immediately corrected the situation. He did point out, however, that the queens on stage were also without masks, but we were told by the Police Commissioner that they were granted such liberties by the Minister of Health, Michel Chebat. The report of Barrow’s ticket, which he says he has already honored, circulated quickly this afternoon which he says may be due to some party operatives working against him. Barrow said he would like to tell the public to abide by the Covid-19 regulations.
